Stoney Bracelets
Since 2019, we have been making handmade gemstone bracelets for over 20,000 customers. Each stone is hand-selected in our own studio.
Most men think that a smartwatch and a gemstone bracelet are mutually exclusive. Too busy, too modern, too much technology next to natural stone. That's only true if you combine them incorrectly. An Apple Watch, Garmin or Samsung Galaxy Watch goes perfectly with a masculine bracelet - if you follow the three rules and know which stone brings peace next to your screen. For a complete overview of premium options, see the men's bracelets collection.
Obsidian and hematite - the most ordered stack for men who wear a smartwatch.
The three rules for smartwatch and bracelet
A smartwatch has one problem that a classic watch doesn't: the screen already attracts attention. Bright display, colored dial, notification lights. The bracelet should not amplify this - it should provide calm. Hence these three rules.
01
Matte over glossy
A smartwatch with an activated screen is already a light source. A shiny bracelet next to it becomes restless. Choose stones with a matte or dark finish: matte obsidian, larvikite, lava stone. Hematite is allowed - it has a calm metallic sheen that matches steel or titanium.
02
Opposite wrist from the smartwatch
Standard advice: bracelet on your non-dominant hand, smartwatch on your dominant hand. Vibrations, sensors, and notifications will remain undisturbed. Still want to wear it on the same wrist? Keep at least two fingers' space between the bands and choose a maximum of one 6mm bracelet.
03
Tone follows band color
Black silicone band? Dark stones on the other wrist. Brown leather? Warm tones like tiger's eye or bronzite. Steel or Milanese band? Hematite or lapis lazuli that enhance the metallic. Match the tone, not the exact color.
04
Maximum two bracelets
With a smartwatch, your wrist stack can quickly look busy. Stick to a maximum of two bracelets on the non-dominant wrist, or one per wrist. Three bracelets next to an Apple Watch looks cluttered - no matter how good the stones are.
Which bracelet goes with which smartwatch
Not every smartwatch requires the same stone. The band material and screen size determine what works next to it. Below are the combinations we most often see working for our customers.

The three strongest stacks for smartwatch wearers
Three combinations that always work, regardless of the smartwatch brand you wear. The first is what our customers most often order in combination with an Apple Watch or Garmin.
Obsidian × Hematite
The Classic
Most Ordered
Deep black with polished metallic sheen. Matches any smartwatch color and any band. The obsidian provides calm next to the screen, the hematite picks up the metallic frame of the smartwatch. Works on black silicone, leather, and steel bands - Apple Watch, Garmin, or Samsung.
Two matte stones that deliberately do not enhance the shine of your smartwatch screen. Provides a restrained, sporty look. Strong with Garmin, Apple Watch Sport, and anything with a silicone band. Don't choose if you wear a steel Milanese band - it will look too dull.
Gold-brown tiger's eye against cool hematite. Works strongest with smartwatches that have a leather or brown band - Withings, Fossil, or an Apple Watch with cognac leather. The warmth of tiger's eye breaks the coolness of the screen, hematite brings it back into balance.
The question we get most often: can you wear a bracelet next to your smartwatch on the same wrist? The answer is more nuanced than a simple yes or no.
Other wrist - the standard advice
Wear the bracelet on your non-dominant wrist. Your dominant wrist gets the smartwatch. Reason: your dominant hand makes more movements, sensors work more accurately, and your bracelet experiences less wear from desk work or phone tapping. For 80% of our customers, this is the right choice.
Same wrist - when it works
If you prefer to wear them on the same wrist, three conditions apply. One: at least two finger-widths of space between the smartwatch and the bracelet, otherwise the bead material will interfere with the heart rate monitor. Two: choose a thin bracelet - 6mm for steel wrists, not 8mm. Three: place the bracelet ABOVE the smartwatch (towards the elbow), not below it. Below the smartwatch, the bracelet will get squeezed between the screen and your hand.
A bracelet placed directly against the screen interferes with the optical heart rate sensor. Training data becomes unreliable. Keep space or wear on the other wrist.
02
Bright stone next to bright screen
A clear amethyst or rock crystal next to an Apple Watch turns into a light circus. Both demand attention, nothing wins. Choose dense, dark stones.
03
Three bracelets plus smartwatch
A complete stack of three bracelets plus an Apple Watch on the same or even both wrists looks messy. With a smartwatch, one stack at a time applies, not both wrists full.
04
Sports band plus statement stone
A brightly colored sports band (red, neon) plus a large statement bracelet competes within one outfit. A sports band calls for subdued stones. Save the statement for the leather or Milanese strap.
Larvikite, bronzite and hematite - a restrained stack that does not detract from a sporty smartwatch.
Our advice
Start with obsidian and hematite on your non-dominant wrist. Works with any smartwatch, regardless of strap material. For a steel or Milanese strap, lapis lazuli and hematite are stronger enhancers. For a sporty Garmin or Apple Watch Sport, matte obsidian and larvikite work best. If you still want to use the same wrist: a maximum of one 6mm bracelet, above the smartwatch.
Men's Bracelets
A bracelet that fits next to your smartwatch
Matte, dark, masculine. Handmade in our own studio, with stones that bring calm next to your screen.
Can I wear a gemstone bracelet next to my Apple Watch?+
Yes, provided you keep three things in mind: wear the bracelet on your non-dominant wrist (the Apple Watch on your dominant), choose matte or dark stones that do not compete with the screen, and stick to a maximum of two bracelets. Obsidian with hematite is the most ordered combination for Apple Watch wearers.
Does a beaded bracelet interfere with my smartwatch's heart rate monitor?+
Only if the bracelet is directly against the screen or sensor. If placed on the other wrist, there is no problem. If you want to use the same wrist, leave at least two finger-widths of space between the smartwatch and bracelet and choose a thin 6mm bracelet above the smartwatch (towards the elbow).
Which stone best suits a steel or Milanese strap?+
Hematite and lapis lazuli. Hematite has a calm metallic sheen that picks up the steel case and Milanese mesh. Lapis lazuli adds deep blue that enhances the cool tone of the steel without competing with it. Avoid matte stones with shiny steel - they will look dull.
Can I wear a bracelet and smartwatch on the same wrist?+
It is possible, but under three conditions. A minimum of two finger-widths of space between the straps, choose a 6mm bracelet (not 8mm on steel wrists), and place the bracelet above the smartwatch towards the elbow. For 80% of our customers, the other wrist works better - less wear, freer sensors.
Does 6mm or 8mm work better next to a smartwatch?+
For the same wrist, always 6mm - an 8mm bracelet directly next to an Apple Watch or Garmin becomes too busy. On the other wrist, 8mm is perfectly fine, especially for larger wrists (18cm+) or if you want to build a statement stack. If you're unsure about your size, check our size guide.
