Larvikite Bracelet

Larvikite is the stone behind our Moon Stones. Grey, with a silver-blue shimmer that runs across the bead in patches instead of as one even glow. The bracelets you see here are the same as in the Moon Stones; this page is about the stone itself.

Where larvikite comes from

Larvikite is an igneous rock from the area around Larvik in Norway, where it's used more often as a facade stone than as jewellery. It's a feldspar, just like labradorite, and the shimmer appears because the rock consists of coarse crystal faces that each reflect light differently. The larger those faces, the more the shine breaks into separate patches. That's exactly the difference you see on the wrist.

Larvikite versus labradorite

Labradorite is the other feldspar in our range and goes a step further: a single bright blue or green flash shoots across the surface, short and in one spot at a time. Larvikite is calmer and more even, which makes it easier to wear every day. Looking for the effect, choose labradorite. Looking for the colour, choose larvikite.

Why larvikite is so easy to wear

Grey clashes with nothing. Larvikite gives you the neutrality of hematite with a bit more life in it, which is why it works well as the middle stone in a stack of three. Next to lava stone it's the most ordered combination we have. Next to lapis lazuli the grey-blue and the deep blue reinforce each other without merging into one colour.

The right size

In 8mm larvikite comes polished and matte, in 6mm polished. Measure your wrist and add about one and a half centimetres. The breakdown is in the size chart, and exchanging for another size is free.
